Finding Light at the End of the Tunnel

My first appointment with Annette O’Neill was Friday, January 17, 2020. When I walked into the office, my first thought was I have seen so many nutritionists and the results were always the same; nothing changed. I was in a place in my life where I discovered I needed to change my health situation by changing my eating habits and lifestyle choices; but I had negative thoughts about how to go about these changes. I had our meeting already played out in my head because of past experiences. I thought to myself that if she told me I was overweight (which I already knew), what my ideal weight should be, or what my BMI should be, I would leave. If she gave me an impossible menu and told me just to follow it, I would leave. If she gave me an American Diabetes Association pamphlet, I would leave.

To my surprise, our first meeting was not what I expected, Annette asked me what my daily eating routine looked like and what goals I had set for myself. I answered her questions and we discussed initially doing a cleansing protein plan for the first two weeks. We met again on the 27th of January where I weighed in. Unfortunately, I had gained a few pounds and felt a little discouraged but refused to give up. I was happy to discover at my next appointment on February 17 that I had lost 8 pounds. As of today, I am down a total of almost 20 pounds! I feel so much better about myself even though I know I still have a long way to go.

By eating the right foods, I have seen so many changes in my attitude, health, skin, and weight. Drinking the protein drink once a day gave me more energy than I had in a very long time. When I look in the mirror, I see a younger woman. For 4 years I’ve had 3 ulcers on my foot that would not heal, and as of now there is only one left, and it is almost closed. In only 4 short months, the changes that Annette and Nutrition Link Services have introduced to me have changed my life for the better.

Lastly, I would like to talk about my RDN Annette. She is on this journey with us. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, concerned, funny and she has my back in this fight. I look forward to our meetings now and I don’t question anything anymore. Annette also understands that eating healthily can be a financial strain, so she always makes sure to recommend stores at reasonable prices. She goes far and beyond for her patients. She is very pleasant and I am very comfortable around her.
